Currently HAMPELS MAGIC PRODUCTIONS is being featured in entertainment programs across the United States, and magic workshops for
scouts and school organizations.
Producing specially designed stage productions for corporations and organizations as well as teaching magic to over 3500 scouting and school groups now occupies the time of the HAMPEL FAMILY CIRCUS. They have also published their nationally acclaimed book entitled "WHEN YOUR LIFE IS LIKE A CIRCUS" that chronicles the career of Dennis Hampel and his family as they continue entertaining, motivating, and educating thousands thru their current magic endeavors which now includes 3 generations of the Hampel Family Circus!
In 1962 Dennis Hampel was enthralled by magician Mark Wilson on national television on the"MAGIC LAND OF ALAKAZAM"
and soon began his magic interests.
Producing his own magic shows for cub scouts and school groups Dennis' flames of magic interest were flamed by reading books at the library on magic, the circus and the theater!
Furthering his appearances on TV shows in the St Louis market Dennis' skills increased quickly! Soon he was working at a professional magicians supply store in St Louis furthering his exposure to the national level of magic he was about to attain!
Winning 2 national first place trophy's at both the
Society of American Magicians convention as well as the national convention for the International Brotherhood of Magicians put Dennis' focus on the professional level of entertainment he wanted to present as a lifelong pursuit.
Soon he was the magician at Six Flags Over Mid America performing 20 shows a day.
Professional entertainers like Carl Ballantine from TV's McHales Navy further encouraged Dennis to be the very best he was created to be in his magic endeavors. There at Six Flags he also met his wife Clydea and soon this duo was performing magic never seen before for thousands of groups and organizations!
Illusion shows featuring the history of America in over 170 schools, intimate specially designed restaurant magic and even escaping from a straightjacket while suspended from a helicopter were the features of this "magic duo's" career! In 1982 the couple's son's Mark & Matthew joined the shows at the tender age of 2 and even began producing their own programs even at the age of 5!
National talent agency's soon discovered the magic duo's talents and offered multi year contracts for performances in International circuses and stage shows which began to be the "norm" for over 13 years Coast to Coast in the United States, and Canada including the Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland!
The late 90's found the magic family returning to their Midwest roots producing educational programs for schools, historical educational programs for historical re-enactment parks, producing numerous television specials, and even producing HAMPELS MAGIC CENTER a unique location in Lebanon Illinois where magicians from across the globe came to lecture and perform including their childhood heroes Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell and Bev Bergeron from the
Magic Land Of Alakazam!
